Year Five/Six Residentials
Year 6 Residential 2023
Monday 27th March 2023
We have had a fun action-packed day. After an hour and half journey, we had lunch and left for our afternoon activities: aerial adventure, archery, and adventure course, followed by climbing, high ropes and kit karts. This evening, we had spaghetti bolognese and garlic bread, followed by time to settle into their rooms.
After an evening of playing games, football, tennis and speed stacks, the children all had their hot chocolate and went to bed. They are all looking forward to the activities tomorrow.
We have taken lots of photos. These will be posted on our Instagram page (@hinguarprimary) throughout the week.
Tuesday 28th March 2023
After an early start, the children all ate a sizeable breakfast and are now at the first activity of the day. All are enjoying themselves and excited for the day ahead.
Even the driving sleet, wind and rain didn’t stop our valiant year six giving it all they have got today. We have been involved in a range of activities throughout the day from zip wire, low ropes, archery, Pedal Karts and many other thrill-seeking activities. The favourite activity of the day had to be the zip wire and adventure course!
Expect some muddy clothes in the washing this weekend!
The children all enjoyed dinner followed by a range of evening activities: football, Just Dance and tennis. After a relaxing evening, they have settled down in their pyjamas to drink their hot chocolate.
Wednesday 29th March 2023
Today we were thankful as we woke up to a rain free sky! The children devoured their breakfast of cereal, toast, yogurt and fresh fruit. After a quick room inspection and a quick check to make sure they were hanging up their towels, we headed off to our various activities. This morning consisted of Bush Craft, High Ropes and Kit Karts.
For lunch, we had pizza and tucked into birthday cake made for Charlie who’s 11 today. Happy birthday, Charlie!
This afternoon consisted of Zip wire and the 3G swing. All the children faced their fears and challenged themselves to go up to the next level. Even the instructors commented on how far the children have come over the last few days.
This evening, we had a beautiful roast dinner made by the wonderful Mrs Wilson. The children enjoyed free time and once again a keen favourite was 'Just dance'. Finally, they settled down with a hot chocolate. Lights were off by 9:00pm, ready for another exciting day tomorrow.
Thursday 30th March 2023
After an early night and a good night’s sleep, the children ate their breakfast and got washed and dressed ready for the day ahead. Today they completed the final activities that they hadn't had a chance to do yet. This included: Pioneering, Leap of Faith and Kit Karts. For lunch, we had pasta bake.
This afternoon, the children have been on the 3G Swing, climbing and Bush Craft. This evening we had a PJ party with buffet food followed by football (obviously) and learning the Cup song from Pitch Perfect. Everyone has started to pack their bags ready tocome home tomorrow after our last two activities tomorrow morning. More rain is forecast, so we are expecting a soggy and muddy trip home!
Year 5 Residential 2022
Wednesday 5th October 2022
The year 5 children have already had an action packed day. Our journey took an hour and no one was unwell. The children were very excited when we arrived and are happy with their allocated rooms. After lunch, they split into groups to take part in Bouldering, archery and back woods cooking. The children made pizza and chocolate bananas and cooked them on the fire. This was a very popular activity! This evening we will be having spaghetti Bolognese and garlic bread, followed by time to settle into their rooms. The children are keen to unpack and by 4.45pm, some children have already changed into their pyjamas!
We have taken lots of photos and will email these out later.
After an evening of playing games and football, the children all had their hot chocolate and biscuit and all in bed asleep by 9.30pm. They are all looking forward to the activities tomorrow.
Thursday 6th October 2022
With only a few interruptions during the night, the children all had a good nights sleep and woke up, ate their breakfast and got washed and dressed ready for the day ahead. So far they have been doing the final activities from yesterday, that they hadn't already done, been crate stacking, climbing Jacobs ladder and climbing the Gaunlet. For lunch, they had jacket potatoes with a choice of filling. We are extremely pleased with how well the children have been eating. Mrs Wilson is currently baking a cake ready for tonight's dessert!
More photos to come today.
This afternoon the children have been on the zip wire, climbing the gauntlet and Jacob's ladder. The children all enjoyed dinner followed by a nighttime walk through the woods, using torches and glow sticks to guide them. We found an impressive view of London, waved to our parents and shouted "see you tomorrow!". The children have come back to the lodge, washed and put on their pyjamas and having 30 minutes to drink their hot chocolate and play some card games before going to bed.
Friday 7th October 2022
The teachers had a very quiet morning waiting to be joined by the children for breakfast. We discovered them all up and awake by 7.15am packing, excited to be coming home to see their families. We had to remind them to eat and get washed and dressed. It was at this moment that many children had discovered they had packed their clothes for the day!
Once packed and fed the children went off for their final activities: 3G swing, zip wire and crate stacking. We are aiming to leave here by 1.30pm and hopefully, if traffic is good, be back at school by 3pm.
The teachers are all extremely proud of the children this week. Their behaviour has been fantastic. They have all been really helpful and supportive with each other and many are talking about going next year!
