Safeguarding

Safeguarding Children Statement

Safeguarding is about ensuring that everyone is safe from harm, safe from bullying, safe from people who could abuse, safe from discrimination or harassment: safe from all types of abuse.  At Hinguar Primary School and Nursery the health, safety and well being of all children is of paramount importance. The school therefore works hard to ensure appropriate policies, procedures, staff training and monitoring is in place to provide a safe, supportive and caring learning environment in which our children can flourish.

There may be occasion as a school we have a concern about a child. We will seek to share with parents any concerns we may have about their child unless to do so may place a child at increased risk of harm. A lack of parental engagement or agreement regarding the concerns the school has about a child will not prevent the Lead Designated Person making a referral to Children‟s Services in those circumstances where it is appropriate to do so or consult other agencies in relation to a child’s welfare or child protection concerns.

If you are concerned about a child please do not hesitate to speak to one of the following designated persons at our school:

  • Mrs A Waite - Lead Designated Person
  • Mrs C Attard-Deputy Designated Person
  • Mrs S Wilson - Deputy Designated Person

For further details on Safeguarding at Hinguar, please read our school Safeguarding Policy.

If your child is ever concerned about safety or well-being, or about a friend they should talk to someone such as a parent, a member of staff at school or a trusted adult, police officer, etc.
