Healthy School

At Hinguar Primary School and Nursery we seek to provide, through our school ethos, curriculum learning and school activities, a safe, secure and healthy learning environment to support our children's decision-making to make healthy lifestyle choices. We are very proud to be a healthy school.

We have focused on raising physical activity and fitness levels of our children and also encouraging cycling and walking to school.  Our efforts have been recognised by the Healthy School Scheme and the school was successfully awarded Enhanced Healthy School status. Our head pupils attended an award ceremony to receive, on behalf of the school, our Enhanced Healthy School certificate and award trophy which we are extremely proud of.

Our school has also been awarded the Equality and Diversity Champion Award.  As part of this award we worked with nine other Southend schools alongside a range of providers including 'Disablity in Action' and 'Show Racism the Red Card'. With our children we have reviewed our Behaviour Policy, Anti-bullying Policy, Equality and Diversity Policy and staff have attended training focused on Equality and Diversity through our curriculum. The school was awarded Equality and Diversity Champion status with the successful project, deepening the ethos of the school in celebration of difference and diversity.
