Our house names are taken from the names of Viking Kings or Princes reflecting the historical significance of the Vikings in Shoebury. As is the name of our school: Hinguar. Each Team House has its own strap line which was developed by the children as part of our transition from our old school to our new school building.

Each pupil at Hinguar is able to earn points for their House Team by achieving the extraordinary in for example their work, manner, attitude and teamwork. The children tally their house points when awarded next to their name on the class board. Each week on Friday our House Captains collate the House Points  and at our Friday assembly our House Cup is presented to the house that achieves the highest house points. The winning house captains are presented the cup by the previous winning house captains. House ribbons are tied to the House Cup and hands our shaken as the whole school cheers.

Our House captains also help to support our inter-house competitions throughout the year. Our annual sports day is always competitive.
